Why has my named GP changed?

One of our GP partners has recently retired, so we have updated the named GP for some patients.

If you have received a text message from us, it simply means that your named GP has changed to another doctor within the practice.

This change will not make a practical difference to the care you receive.

Can I still see my usual GP?

Yes.

You can continue to book appointments with whichever GP you prefer, subject to availability. We do not use your named GP when deciding which appointments you can book.

Many patients choose to see the same doctor where possible for continuity of care, particularly when they have an ongoing health problem, while others prefer to book with whichever GP has an appointment at a time that is convenient for them. Both approaches are completely appropriate, and this change does not alter that.

Does this affect my care?

No.

Your medical records remain available to all of the clinicians involved in your care. Our GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals work together as a team to provide safe, high quality care.

Your named GP is an administrative NHS requirement and does not limit who can look after you.

Do I need to do anything?

No.

You do not need to contact the practice or make any changes. We are simply letting you know because NHS regulations require us to inform patients if their named GP changes.
